Ontario Continuing to Support Hospitals in Timmins
Jan. 28, 2025
Timmins — The Ontario government continues to build hospital capacity across the province by investing over $5,949,500 this year to support over 41 Alternative level of care and Alternative Health Facility hospital beds in Timmins, ensuring people and families have ongoing access to high-quality care, close to home.
This funding is part of Ontario’s investment of over $257 million this year to support the continued operation of over 3,500 acute, post-acute and critical care beds across the province. This is another step the government is taking to improve access, expand capacity and decrease wait times at Ontario’s hospitals, building a healthcare system that better serves patients both now and into the future.
“Under the leadership of Premier Ford, our government is investing in northern regions like Timmins to improve local healthcare services. That is why we’re investing $5,949,500 this year to support over 41 hospital beds in the Timmins community, ensuring people and families have ongoing access to high-quality care, near home,” said George Pirie, Member of the Provincial Parliament for Timmins. “This funding is another step our government is taking to improve access, expand capacity and decrease wait times at hospitals throughout the north and across Ontario. Building a healthcare system that better serves patients both now and into the future.”
“Our government is making historic investments in Ontario’s hospitals to ensure people and families have access to fast and convenient care, where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “This investment builds on our work to enhance capacity in our hospitals and will provide communities with the beds they need to deliver high-quality health care close to home, for years to come.”
