November 2025
Adding the Crawford Nickel Project to Canada’s Major Projects List is a big win for Timmins. A generational opportunity, this project could drive $70B in potential GDP, create 1,000 direct and 3,000 indirect jobs, and will help secure Ontario and Canada’s critical minerals supply chain.
It was an honour to take part in the South Porcupine Remembrance Day ceremony at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 287. Thank you to everyone who wore a poppy, made a donation, or paused for a moment of silence to honour our veterans. We will always remember their courage, service, and sacrifice.
Proud to celebrate the grand opening of the Centre de santé communautaire de Timmins, a major milestone for our Francophone community. With nearly $17M in provincial support, this new facility expands French-language health services and strengthens local care across the Timmins region. Congratulations to all involved!

Excitement is high here in Timmins as the Toronto Blue Jays head into the World Series! Timmins is showing its pride celebrating the home run that brought us to the World Series, it went “all the way to Timmins”, thanks to everyone who has supported this campaign and our local hospital. Let’s go, Blue Jays — Timmins is behind you!
More great news for Timmins. Our government is investing over $345,000 to upgrade the Jubilee Centre. Thanks to Harry Jones and the Jubilee Centre team for hosting us and for helping countless individuals over the years, supporting our neighbours in need.
Fantastic news for Timmins! Our government is expanding and modernizing the Timmins and District Hospital Emergency Department — up to four times larger, with modern facilities and dedicated mental health supports. Thanks to Minister Sylvia Jones for coming to visit Timmins to share this exciting news.
Great to join the Timmins Chamber’s President’s Series Luncheon. It was an excellent opportunity to engage with community leaders, discuss ways to drive economic growth across Northern Ontario, and explore how we can continue developing and enhancing communities like Timmins.

On September 30th, across Ontario and Canada, we observe the fifth annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.
Great meeting with Cléo Charlebois, Executive Director, and Don Anderson, Board President of North Eastern Ontario Family and Child Services. We discussed the vital services they provide to children and families in Timmins.
Great to see Tisdale Bus Lines Limited’s new location and hear about their progress so far developing a new facility in South Porcupine.
It was great seeing our community at the Legion in South Porcupine to celebrate the 95th birthday of James Hall.

Had a great meeting recently with the Timmins Chamber Board of Directors.
Joined the Opening Ceremonies of the 3rd Annual Launch Canada Challenge in Timmins.
Great time at the 4th Annual Filipino Fiesta in Timmins. The event showcased the richness of Filipino culture in our community with authentic food, refreshments, and live performances.
Happy to announce that our government is investing over $1 million to expand primary care access in Timmins. This funding will connect more than 2,500 residents to local primary care teams, bringing care closer to home for families in our community.

The construction of the Timmins-Porcupine Station is a major step toward restoring the Northlander and expanding passenger rail in Northern Ontario. Thanks to Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria for visiting Timmins to mark the groundbreaking and this milestone.
Proud to be in Connaught for the grand opening of their new multi-use sports court! Thanks to a $311,000 NOHFC grant and local support, this new space will offer year-round recreation and bring our community together through physical activity and sport.
Wonderful to see the families enjoying the park during the Annual Kin Club Community BBQ.
Proud to kick off Urban Park season in downtown Timmins! Join our community every Wednesday this Summer from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Third Avenue for fresh food, local vendors, and weekly fun.

Great to join the Ivey Group Family BBQ at Schumacher Lions Club Park, a celebration of the skilled workers and families helping drive Timmins’ growth.
Proud to celebrate with the incredible team at Glencore’s Kidd Creek Mine as they were recently crowned the 2025 Provincial Mine Rescue Champions.
I had a wonderful time visiting with the Project Confidence workshop over the weekend in Timmins, a day program helping Ontarians build workplace skills. It was inspiring to meet participants, hear their journeys to Timmins, and learn about their career goals.
Thanks to Minister Raymond Cho for visiting my office in Timmins as he is travelling the North to announce new seniors and accessibility grants that will strengthen supports for Ontario seniors.
Honoured to attend the Provincial Mine Rescue Competition Reception at the Porcupine Dante Club. Congrats to the winners of this year’s competition and all participants for their dedication to keeping Ontario’s mines safe.

Thanks to the Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response, Jill Dunlop for visiting Timmins to meet with local partners and announce new funding for emergency preparedness. Timmins is setting the standard for emergency preparedness.
Thanks to Minister Kevin Holland for visiting Timmins to announce a $11.3 million investment in a new local study that will explore how forest biomass can be turned into clean energy and biochar, opening the door to new industries and jobs across Northern Ontario.
Pleased to announce that OK Tire Timmins is receiving $400,000 to expand their facility and meet the regional demand for industrial vehicle repairs that support mining. This investment will create new opportunities for skilled trades workers in our community.
I joined Minister Jill Dunlop and Fire Chief Scott Atkinson for a meeting at the Timmins Fire Hall. We reviewed protocols and reflected on Timmins’ decades of leadership supporting evacuations and keeping communities safe.
Thanks to Dr. Lynn Wells, President of Laurentian University, for stopping by my office to meet on their recent Northeastern tour. We discussed Northern Ontario’s bright future and how Laurentian University can be a key resource in attracting more people and opportunities to the North.
It was a pleasure seeing Tania Duguay from the Timmins Family Counselling Centre at Queen’s Park. Tania was in Toronto for a Family Service Ontario event, highlighting the incredible work they do in supporting 40 family service agencies across the province.
Thanks to the Launch Canada team for meeting to discuss the upcoming launch competition in Timmins, which brings post-secondary students to our community for this annual event. And a final shoutout to everyone in the Timmins area who supported local charities by buying Tim Hortons Smile Cookies!

Congrats to Gaétan Malette, who was elected as the Member of Parliament for Kapuskasing-Timmins-Mushkegowuk. I look forward to working together to build up our community and Northern Ontario.
Happy to join Minister Lecce for an announcement in Timmins about Taykwa Tagamou Nation and Moose Cree First Nation working in partnership to develop new large-scale hydroelectric generation stations that will provide electricity to communities across Northeastern Ontario.
Great seeing Mark Selby and the Canada Nickel team. I joined local community members for the State of Mining luncheon hosted by the Timmins Chamber featuring Canada Nickel.
